UF and Kentucky fans were fighting a bloody battle nearly a week before the men's basketball game.
LifeSouth Community Blood Centers in Gainesville and Kentucky Blood Centers hosted a competition from Feb. 2 to Feb. 9 to determine who could donate the most blood prior to the game.
Kentucky was proclaimed the winner of the blood drive during halftime of the men's basketball game Tuesday night with 2,366 donations, topping UF's 2,173 donations.
This is the first year that LifeSouth has held a competition for men's basketball.
