Three people were arrested after admitting to an officer that they planned to rob a drug dealer Saturday.
At 11:15 p.m., Gainesville Police Officer Jaron Griffin pulled over a black Saturn for a window tint violation.
When driver Keondra Williams, 18, opened her door, Griffin said he could smell marijuana, giving Griffin probable cause to search the vehicle.
Griffin asked front-seat passenger Timothy Hunter, 29, and backseat passenger Johnbrooks Smith, 24, both Palatka residents, to exit the car. Then Griffin patted the suspects down to make sure they weren't carrying weapons.
Smith and Hunter said there were no weapons in the car, but Griffin asked Williams if he could search her car anyway.
According to the GPD arrest report, after Griffin found a Smith & Wesson .357-caliber revolver covered by a white t-shirt under the front passenger seat, he handcuffed both Smith and Hunter.
He also found a Taurus .38-caliber revolver under the backseat cushion with a black ski mask, cloth gloves and a black hat, said GPD spokesmen, Keith Kameg.
Williams told Griffin that they planned to rob a local drug dealer who they knew would have between $400 and $500 on him.
According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Smith and Hunter are convicted felons.
They were charged with robbery of a firearm, possession of a concealed fire arm, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
