So your financial aid disbursement didn't exactly go as planned. Your wallet may have seen better days, but don't let a lack of funds put a damper on your fun. There are plenty of ways to kill time in Gainesville that don't require any transactions from your bank account.

University of Florida Bat House: Halloween is long gone, but if you're still in the mood for some vampire-friendly fun, UF's very own bat house offers a nice view of the winged creatures every evening at dusk. Just watch out for bat droppings.

Lake Alice: Think you're a true Gators fan? If you want to spot a real alligator, Lake Alice boasts the swamp experience from the safety of a viewing platform.

Samuel P. Harn Museum of Art: If all of the football commotion has left you in dire need of some culture, peruse an exhibit or two at the Harn. It's the closest thing you're going to get to the Met (The Metropolitan Museum of Art) in Gainesville.

Downtown Gainesville: Downtown offers more than just overpriced restaurants and nightclubs. Take a stroll through the historic district at night when the Hippodrome State Theater is lit up. If anything, it's good cardio.

Lake Wauburg: If all the time spent cooped up in lecture halls has left you a bit claustrophobic, you probably just need some fresh air. Lake Wauburg is full of outdoorsy activities, from kayaking to volleyball. Just flash your Gator 1 Card and look out for alligators.
