Put away the government cheese, the House just passed President Barack Obama's stimulus package to the tune of $819 billion.

Wednesday evening saw what appeared to be a big win for the Obama administration, as a vote of 244-188 gave his plan the green light.

While Obama shouldn't exactly stay awake at night questioning why no Republicans supported the bill, the Editorial Board can't help but wonder why there was no love from across the aisle?

Regardless, the Democrats' strength in numbers allowed for the stimulus package to pass in Congress, which gives us the opportunity to start discussing how the money will be spent.

Based on reports from CNN, the Obama stimulus package will highlight four distinct areas of need, ranging from tax cuts to creating jobs.

What we really like is the fact that almost $150 billlion may end up being spent on education. Not to mention the $20 billion to help feed the hungry with increased support for food banks as well as expanded lunch programs.

The Editorial Board extends a warm congratulations to Obama for taking a proactive approach in addressing the economic criss afflicting the nation.

Heck, Obama's been in office for just over a week, yet it seems like he already has quite the handle on things.

By potentially providing $300 million in tax cuts for citizens and businesses as well as creating as many as four million jobs for Americans, the stimulus package may prove to be the proverbial chicken soup for the economic soul.
