Congressman Cliff Stearns selected Santa Fe College to host the Inaugural Celebration for President Barack Obama today at the college's Northwest Campus.
SFC Student Body President Cesar Fernandez is coordinating the celebration with the administration and Stearns' office.
Students and community members are invited to the gym to watch network coverage of the inauguration. The event begins at 11 a.m.
"The inauguration is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity watershed moment in American history," said SFC President Jackson Sasser.
"The college wants our students and employees to experience that moment in a setting that is appropriate to the occasion," he said.
Although Sasser said the beginningof the semester is a very busy time, he said he encourages teachers to bring their students to the event.
More than 800 students and faculty have signed up to attend, said SFC spokeswoman Julie Garrett.
