Following the lead of a couple other big universities, UF will soon be getting its own signature scents.

Supposedly, the perfume and cologne, which will be created by Masik Collegiate Fragrances, are being concocted to trigger memories of time spent at UF, an idea we find both decent and terrible.

Who's to say what smells remind us of college? Surely, these memory-triggering aromas cannot be universal.

Orange Valencia, sun-sparking ozone and cool Mediterranean lavender would probably be toward the bottom of our list of college experience-related odors.

However, that's not to say we dislike these smells. This bunch just won't accurately represent our college experiences.

On the other hand, cologne reeking of vomit-encrusted tile coated with bleach would definitely remind us of a few long Friday nights as freshmen. Obviously, we'll take the Orange Valencia over that awful nose pollution.

We're glad the fragrance company won't be going for complete accuracy because we know where we've been along our UF journey, and unfortunately, many of our little pit stops are renowned for the awful smells that accompanied them.

Intramural flag football and game days in the Swamp are all fine and dandy while you're there, but no one wants to take that funk back home with them.

We will give the UF scents a whiff because we'll be nostalgic alumni sooner rather than later, but we don't expect the smell of oranges to remind us of our time in Gainesville.
