In response to the article about this week's Senate meeting and the limiting of public debate, I would like to clarify a few things. Public debate exists to give students input in Senate, and that is what it should be used for.
Unfortunately, last week's Senate meeting was used to stall the proceedings. We were forced to adjourn due to the Reitz Union closing, leaving several bills held over to the next meeting.
Dilatory tactics like this have become the hallmark of the Orange and Blue Party, and they are impeding the efficiency and proper functioning of Senate.
Simply look at their response to a measure intended to expedite the meeting: another hour of rhetoric that resulted in nothing more than another five-hour meeting.
