Florida Sen. Steve Oelrich will remain the chairman of the Higher Education Committee for the Florida Senate's 2008-2010 legislative term, he announced Monday.
Oelrich, whose district encompasses Alachua County, will also serve on six other committees, including a new position as the vice chair of the Military Affairs and Domestic Security Committee, according to a statement from his office. He will also take new positions on the following committees: General Government Appropriations; Communications, Energy and Public Utilities; Policy and Steering Committee on Governmental Operations; and Joint Legislative Committee on Everglades Oversight.
He will serve on the Commerce Committee for a second term.
Oelrich was elected to the Florida Senate in November 2006 after serving as the Alachua County sheriff for 14 years.
