Alachua County Sheriff's Office deputies are looking for a man who robbed an East Gainesville convenience store at gunpoint Tuesday night.
A store clerk who was standing outside smoking a cigarette said he noticed a suspicious man completely dressed in black standing at the pay phone outside the Sunrise Food Mart at 4221 E. University Ave., sheriff's office spokesman Steve Maynard said.
When the clerk saw two teenage girls approach the store, he said he put out his cigarette and went inside to ring them up, Maynard said.
As the girls went up to the counter to purchase their items, the man from the pay phone came in wearing a black mask and a black hood over his head, Maynard said.
Maynard said the man pulled out a single-shot shotgun, pointed it in the clerk's face and demanded all of the money in the drawer.
He asked for any money in the clerk's pockets, but the clerk said he didn't have any, and the man rode away on a bicycle, Maynard said.
Maynard described the man as a thin, 5-foot-11-inch black man in his early 20s and wearing a black-hooded sweatshirt, black shorts and white sneakers.
