With a historic election having just ended and Thanksgiving just a few weeks away, it's easy to forget about that other holiday.
Sure, it gives us a day off, but it's easy to fill that time with partying, doing homework or sleeping in.
So, if you forgot Tuesday was Veterans Day, take today to remember.
It's not just about listening to our grandparents' stories or watching "M*A*S*H" reruns. It's convenient to assign Veterans Day to the realm of documentaries, parades and graveyards.
Veterans Day belongs to 20-somethings as much as it belongs to those who fought in the wars we read about in our history classes.
Because, as Alachua County resident and veteran Bob Gasche said at a Veterans Day ceremony Tuesday, "a bullet's a bullet" - and today's soldiers will be the veterans remembered by the next generation.
We can't let Veterans Day pass by or stand for a group of people we forget.
