In her article on Monday, Andrea Williamson displayed a stunning lack of knowledge in any field involving economics, mathematics or common sense.

Since when is charging people based on the amount of their consumption sexist?

I suppose we should all pay $100 when we go to the grocery store regardless of what we buy.

If insurance companies operated under her foolish assertions, we wouldn't have insurance companies.

Companies back all their rates with data and set them at a level where they can operate without shutting down.

Actuaries are paid good money to determine how much each person should be charged.

Statistics don't lie, which is probably why Ms. Williamson didn't include any in her rant.

Women have higher health insurance rates for the same reason men have higher car and life insurance rates: Because they are more costly to the insurer.

If you don't want to listen to me, there are numerous economics and statistics professors who can explain it.
