Wvery morning, thousands of UF students put their trust in the Alligator. They pick it up not only because it is the most popular news platform for students at UF but because they have vested their belief in the objectivity and journalistic integrity of the editors and news staff.
The Editorial Board of the Alligator, which purports to represent the views and ideologies of the paper, has taken a stance not even Fox News could have succumbed to.
Although there may be editorials that are quite disagreeable to some, students understand that the Alligator - as a news source of "integrity" - would not take an agenda and run wild with it. Nonetheless, that is exactly what the editorial staff did on Nov 6.
The condescending, overtly rude stance taken in response to the investigation involving the Tau Epsilon Phi fraternity has proven that the Editorial Board has an agenda and no shame in promoting it through disrespectful or detrimental means.
I understand that most Alligator staff writers are of the non-Greek community. However, the editorial section on Nov. 6 was reminiscent of Palestinians who danced around burning American flags after Sept. 11. Don't kick the dog when it's down.
