Bethany Koch's extremist liberal rant in Wednesday's Alligator is indicative of two things. First, she has never worked a 40-hour-week job and seen the government steal 19 cents of every dollar she earns.
Second, as an unproductive member of society, she is naturally of the opinion that the productive taxpaying portion of society should thus pay for her every need lest she be required to provide for herself.
Koch's statement that women require access to abortions and contraceptives to control when they have children is preposterous: Natural family planning is 75 to 99 percent effective (abstinence, by the way, is 100 percent effective).
Koch would have taxpayers foot the bill for everything from medical bills to day care to compensation for "work" at home.
While we're at it, why don't we just enslave all men, confiscate their property and wealth and give it all to women.
I know plenty of women who provide for themselves and their families with neither need nor desire for handouts.
I advise Koch to learn from the examples set by such women instead of sucking the government teat.
