A 14-year-old was arrested Saturday after reports that he hit a younger boy with a stick in an attempt to steal his bicycle.
The boy, 10, told police he was riding his bicycle at 1603 N.E. 31st Ave. when the teenager approached him and said to give the bicycle to him, a GPD report stated. When he refused, the 14-year-old picked up a stick and hit him in the back of the head, making him drop the bicycle, the report stated.
The 14-year-old got on the bicycle to ride away but dropped it and fled after the 10-year-old's sister came out of the house and yelled at him, the report stated.
When police arrived, the sister told them that she saw the teenager hit her brother and attempt to steal the bicycle, the report stated.
Police found the 14-year-old, sweating profusely, a short distance away and arrested him on charges of armed robbery. His name is not being published.
The 10-year-old, whose name was not available, had minor injuries and was not taken to a hospital, Hallett said.
