In Thursday's Alligator, Phil Kegler insisted that offensive coordinator Dan Mullen was not responsible for the Mississippi loss. While Mullen had nothing to do with the multiple drops, fumbles and the missed extra point attempt that lost us the game, Mullen did call to run tailback Jeff Demps up the middle and for two consecutive attempts into the end zone on the final drive instead of sticking with the quick option slants that got us into range.

His play calling is so notoriously conservative we had spinners with "Percy Harvin left" and "Tim Tebow up the middle" taking over the Internet in 2007.

Yes, we won three games with his abysmal play calling, but this is the Southeastern Conference where we revere smashmouth, gutsy calls - see Les Miles. For designed QB runs and overworked running backs, go to Ron Zook up in Illinois.

Some of the Gators faithful have been complaining about Mullen since the 2006 season, and the more we lose, the louder we'll get.

Dan Mullen, please know that the Gators don't hate you. We're just shocked that with the best offensive football players in the nation your whole playbook is five basic plays.

We're so excited about our new running backs, our fantastic wide receivers, and our three elite quarterbacks - could you give them a chance to show us what they've got?
