As part of the "Early Vote for Change" tour, Michelle Obama will be stopping in Gainesville on Wednesday afternoon to rally voters to go to the polls.
Obama will be speaking in support of her husband, Democratic presidential candidate Sen. Barack Obama, and on the importance of voting early in the November election regardless of party affiliation, said Kevin Cate, a spokesman for the Obama campaign.
"Our hope is that Gainesville residents and students heed the call for this election by early voting," Cate said.
This is one of Michelle Obama's three independent rallies in Florida this week. She will also stop in Pensacola on Tuesday and Jacksonville on Wednesday.
She and Barack Obama will host a rally together in Miami on Tuesday.
Cate said Gainesville was chosen as a stop for the tour because of its support for Barack Obama.
"Gainesville is a great location to highlight the message of change," he said.
The Hippodrome State Theater will open gates in front of the building at 1 p.m. Michelle Obama's speech will take place at 2:30 p.m.
The event is free and requires no ticket, but anyone planning to attend is encouraged to RSVP at fl.barackobama.com.
