A man arrested early Friday morning told Gainesville Police that he enjoys drinking and driving.
Ryan Michael Phillips, 19, told police he had been driving to McDonald's at 3 a.m. to get a cup of coffee when he crashed into a car at 7200 W. Newberry Road, Lt. Larry Seale said.
Seale said Phillips did not stop after crashing into the car and police pursued the car for four blocks.
They caught up to him at 205 S.W. Seventh Street, Seale said.
Phillips was arrested on charges of driving under the influence, leaving the scene of an accident, failing to report a crash with an injured person and violating restrictions on a driver's license.
Phillips had a restriction on his license from a previous DUI charge that allowed him to drive only to and from work, Seale said.
Phillips told police that he loves to drink and drive, Seale said.
He also told police that it would take a death to keep him from drinking and driving, Seale said.
