I am frequently disappointed by the unreasonably negative and sarcastic tone of some Alligator editorials, and Monday's whiny screed against early voting activists is the latest and most perplexing example.

Don't you think you could find some more pressing issue to comment on than an occasional two-second delay in your urgent expeditions through the Plaza of the Americas?

Where is your appreciation for the unpaid civic service these people are performing? It's not as if they have some mysterious, selfish reason for trying to ensure that you get a chance to vote.

If you'd bothered to actually talk to any of those volunteers, you would have learned exactly why early voting is so important.

If everyone shows up all at once on Nov. 4, the lines are likely to be long enough that some people won't have time to vote at all. Not to mention that the time you could save by casting your ballot now, while there's no wait, would make up many times over for those unconscionable interruptions in your daily pilgrimage to Chick-fil-A.

Please put a little more thought and professionalism into your future editorials - and, of course, don't forget to vote early.
