As a former Student Senator and a current student, I must say that Homrich-Micocci's guest column was factually inaccurate on many levels. I have sat on committees that discussed many of the problems he addressed. I am disgusted at the lack of insight or research into anything.
His depiction of Recreational Sports is completely biased. There's a reason why the department of Recreational Sports Board of Directors has more student representation than anyone else. To say that RecSports doesn't listen to input from students when making decisions is an insult to all 13 students on the board.
His complaint about the sustainability cups is just absurd. Had he done research, he would have realized that Gator Dining Services has already started designing a closeable cup.
I'm not one to praise any official at this school. There are many problems I wish would be addressed, such as on-campus parking for students, but Homrich-Micocci's complaints about cups not being large enough and not being able to get a ticket to a football game should be the least of our concerns.
