The political pestering never seems to end.

First, we had to register with a certain party because Florida is a closed primary state, which means independents can't vote in primaries. Get off our back about primaries - we didn't even know who all the nominees for the candidacy were. New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson? Ohio Rep. Dennis Kucinich? We knew about Rudy Giuliani, but wasn't he only a mayor?

Then, these gung-ho activists wanted to make sure we were registered to vote in Alachua County. We felt like every walk through the Plaza of the Americas turned into a chase scene from "ChiPs."

There was only the one question. They never asked us how we were doing or if we had already handled our voter business via absentee ballot. All they wanted from us was a signature. They were such a pushy bunch.

They didn't stop there, of course. Now, they're all about the early vote. Don't put it off until election day, they say.

What we want to know is, why shouldn't we?

Maybe our Tuesday schedule lends itself perfectly to taking an hour of our day to vote.

Frankly, we're a little more concerned with our nightly jobs and mountains of class readings than we are about voting early.

We're going to vote, so let us do it on our time. There's no need to come to our doors three times to tell us to vote (ahem, Obama folks).

You've pestered us long enough. The primaries are done, and we've registered; now back off a bit, and let us handle the rest.
