I appreciate the Alligator sending a reporter to cover a local fundraising event. However, I am sorely disappointed with its lack of sensitivity and misinformation.
This was the sixth annual dog costume contest. What was there to be surprised about when it was the animals dressed up instead of the owners?
This was meant to be a fun, light-hearted fundraiser to increase awareness about the pre-vet club.
As someone who attended to support the charity and had some fun - and someone who is not a part of the pre-vet club - I was anything but disappointed. It was hilarious and fun.
To say these funds were raised at the expense of the dogs' dignity is a gross distortion of the facts.
Your misrepresentation is insulting, and you should be encouraging people to attend next year's event instead of dissuading people based on your false expectations.
