The SAT has a place in the college application process. It's not an arbitrary evaluation of a student's math and verbal abilities. It acts as a de facto intelligence test for applicants.
There is a roughly 0.8 correlation between SAT performance and G-score, which is a measurement of general intelligence that is similar to IQ.
Shouldn't schools be able to pick between the smarter of two otherwise similar applicants?
