The recent complaints by Miami coach Randy Shannon about the Gators "running up the score" with a late field goal were completely out of line. To suggest that Urban Meyer has no character and is a bad person for letting his inexperienced kicker attempt a field goal late in a game is simply ridiculous.
Besides, the last time I checked, games last 60 minutes - not 59 minutes and 35 seconds.
To suggest that Meyer's "lack of character" would hurt Florida in recruiting is another ill-advised statement.
If an athlete is going to turn down the opportunity to play at UF because the Gators kicked a field goal late in a game, then he doesn't deserve to play here. It seems to me that Randy Shannon should worry about trying to cross his opponent's 50-yard line rather than taking verbal shots at other coaches.
