Politics aren't my thing. One of my favorite quotes by Albert Einstein is, "Yes, we have to divide up our time like that, between our politics and our equations. But to me our equations are far more important, for politics are only a matter of present concern. A mathematical equation stands forever."
That's me, a nerd who only knows enough about politics to laugh at most of the jokes on "The Daily Show." So understand my enthusiasm when I say the time is now.
My fellow Gators, however you identify yourselves, whatever your gender, race, religion or party, you must vote for Obama on Nov. 4.
If McCain is elected, we, as a nation, will be faced with a 72-year-old man who has long abandoned his cherished "maverick" status and now stands in lockstep with the Republican Party - the party whose leadership mired us in Iraq, gave tax breaks to the ultra-rich and allowed the economy to tailspin.
If McCain is elected, the country will be one illness away from giving the highest office in the country to a governor with no national experience. Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin takes a hard, right-wing stance on almost everything and was chosen in a desperate and insulting attempt to convince American women to vote Republican.
As a swing state, we cannot let McCain win. So far, the worst criticism leveled at Obama is that he is ambitious and well-spoken.
