Leah Martindale-Stancil is coming back home.

The 12-time All-American has joined the UF swimming program as an assistant coach and will start in August.

Stancil was formerly an assistant at South Carolina.

"I am really excited about coming back to UF and being on the coaching staff," Stancil said. "This is a great program, and I am very proud of being able to return and give back to my alma mater, which played a significant role in my life."

Martindale-Stancil, also a two-time Olympian, will be replacing Hollie Bonewit-Cron who is relocating to Miami with her husband.

"We are disappointed to be losing Hollie, but we're also excited to welcome someone at Leah's caliber," UF coach Gregg Troy said. "Leah has a tremendous background in international competition, a big background in sports psychology, and she's a Gator."

Martindale-Stancil is additionally the Barbados national record holder, both long course and short course, in the 50 and 100 free events, in addition to being the 50 and 100 butterfly record holder. She set her records for the 50 and 100 free events at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta and her butterfly records at the Commonwealth Games in 2002.

WILKS QUALIFIES FOR 100 AT JUNIORS: Rising sophomore UF sprinter Terrell Wilks on Tuesday advanced to the finals of the men's 100-meter dash at the IAAF World Junior Championships in Poland.

Wilks won the 100-meter dash at the USA Junior Championships in Columbus, Ohio, in late June. He won the final in a time of 10.19, easily out-distancing runner-up Antonio Sales of South Carolina, who clocked a time of 10.33. He also finished third in the 200-meter dash at that event in a time of 21.08 (-2.2).

Wilks was part of UF's third-place 4x100-meter relay team at the NCAA Outdoor Championships in Des Moines, Iowa in mid June.
