Law school first in U.S. to offer new master’s program

Beginning this fall, UF's Levin College of Law will be the first in the country to offer a master's degree focused on environmental and land use law.

Alyson Flournoy, UF law professor and director of the program, said there are master's programs focused on environmental law in the country, but no others combine environmental law and land use like this degree.

It is also the first master's degree in Florida to focus on environmental law at all, Flournoy said.

"Here in Florida, it is very obvious that land development and patterns of land development have a huge impact on natural resources and public health," she said.

The one-year program is for law students who have already earned a juris doctorate degree.
