David N. Tostenson, Philosophy Ph.D. candidate
Commenting on Hillary Clinton's RFK gaffe in the May 27 edition of The Alligator, the editorial board mentions that Clinton could have provided more recent examples of Democratic nominations running on into June, in particular the Carter-Kennedy race and the Mondale-Hart race.
The editorial board points out the sinister fact that she didn't mention those races. I'm no mind reader, but I can think of a couple reasons why a Democratic hopeful might not want to associate her campaign in any way with candidates who were roundly defeated by Republicans.
Her options were, therefore, quite limited. Maybe before accusing someone of something "abominable" or "unspeakable," the editorial board ought to consider other possible explanations for the questioned conduct.
