Rihanna cut hers short. Katie Holmes and her daughter sport matching looks, and Lauren Conrad wore one in just about every episode of "The Hills" last season. You guessed it girls: I am talking about this summer's fiercest hairstyles - the pixie cut, the bi-level bob and the side French braid.

Rihanna showed she's a risk taker by chopping her locks for the cover of her recent album, "Good Girl Gone Bad." She loved it so much she trimmed her hair even shorter for a boyish-yet-feminine cut that's ruling the runway this season. To master this dramatic look, your stylist should go as short as possible in the back and leave a longer section of hair around the front of your face. With this edgy cut, add a metallic headband for a touch of femininity.

For those who think Rihanna's style is too dramatic, Katie Holmes' bi-level bob might be a safer choice for you.

Tell your stylist to cut your hair just below the jaw line, add soft layers for texture and keep the side you part your hair on slightly longer than the other. This style also looks great with bangs.

If you love your long locks but need a fresh, easy look, then try Lauren Conrad's side braid. Simply part your hair on the side, gather three small sections and French braid the hair along the side of your head. Fasten it with a bobby pin, and you're ready for any occasion. The braid looks great with super straight locks, but you can also dress it up by putting the remainder of your hair in a low bun or a teased ponytail.

These are just a few of this season's hottest hair trends, so go out and find the one that best fits your personality.
