The UF sophomore won a Guitar Hero competition Friday - scoring 416,684 points - and took first place again at a video game competition held at UF on Tuesday during the Best Buy GAME U College Tour. It brought about 15 video games and 30 plasma TVs to the Reitz Union Colannade from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Motorola and Game Live Events sponsored the tour. Stefanie Hileman, a UF marketing senior who works for Motorola, said the company is visiting 20 universities, and UF is the seventh stop.
There were also 25 individual stations outfitted with a plasma TV and a video game. At the far end of the colonnade was a lounge with two couches and five larger TVs.
All of the main video game systems were represented, including Xbox, Nintendo Wii and PlayStation.
Michael Roders, a UF freshman, said he was having lunch at the Reitz Union when he noticed all the activity on the colonnade. He ended up hanging around for more than an hour.
"I kind of got sucked into it," he said. "I guess this advertising scheme is working."
