As UF students head home for Spring Break, almost 400 donors will head to campus to see what their money has done for the university and possibly consider giving more.
UF is hosting its annual Stakeholders Weekend on Friday and Saturday.
Carter Boydstun, senior associate vice president for development forthe UF Foundation, which oversees UF's endowment, said UF has held the event for the past few years to show UF donors where their contributions have gone.
"We call it a Stakeholders Weekend because those who we invited are truly people who have invested in the University of Florida's future," Boydstun said. "We want to make sure they understand the significance of that investment."
He said UF officials would present improvements made possible by donations and endowments. Donors would then be able to meet with faculty and students who benefited from their contributions, he said.
Boydstun said he was a little concerned about faculty and students not being able to attend the weekend because it was during Spring Break, but the turnout should still be good.
UF President Bernie Machen said it's important for UF supporters to see what the university has to offer, which might lead to further donations.
"One of the things we find is when we get people on campus, good things happen," Machen said.
