This weekend, the UF's men's golf team's roller coaster headed upward.
Behind three top-10 individual finishes, the Gators took second at the Schenkel E-Z-Go Invitational. The team's eight-under 856 put them seven shots behind tournament winner Alabama.
Billy Horschel headed the trio of top-10 players, tying for fourth at five-under after a closing with an even-par 72. Senior Manuel Villegas, who, like Horschel, shot a five-under 67 on Saturday to tie for the lead entering Sunday's final round, shot one-over 73 on Sunday and tied for sixth.
Junior Tyler Brown shot two-under 70 on Friday and fired an even-par 72 on Saturday and Sunday to tie for ninth.
The three combined to buoy UF to its best finish outside of Gainesville as the Gators rebounded strongly from a dismal eighth-place finish at the Southern Highlands Collegiate the previous weekend.
Will Strickler finished at six-over, tied for 44th, and Tyson Alexander's seven-over earned him a tie for 51st.
