After collecting faculty feedback this week, the UF College of Liberal Arts and Sciences dean search committee will meet to make its final recommendation to the provost today.
The committee will meet at 5 p.m. in Room 307 in Weil Hall to decide whether to postpone the search or move forward with one of the two finalists after two other finalists dropped out this month. One candidate who dropped out cited a recent UF administrative shift that would change the dean's relationship with the provost.
The remaining candidates are Paul D'Anieri, University of Kansas CLAS associate dean of humanities, and Barbara Romzek, University of Kansas CLAS associate dean of social sciences.
After its meeting March 21, the UF committee decided to delay its recommendation until today so faculty members could submit input about the search.
Pramod Khargonekar, committee chairman and UF's College of Engineering dean, said faculty suggestions have been streaming in at a higher rate than usual.
Khargonekar said he doesn't see any reason why the committee wouldn't make a final recommendation at today's meeting.
"We have taken our time, and it is now time to decide," he said.
