All company-operated Starbucks coffee stores throughout the country will close their doors to latte lovers earlier than usual tonight in order to train employees in the "Art of Espresso."
The popular coffee chain is going back to its core, "all things coffee," according to an e-mail sent to all employees by Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz.
Teaching its baristas how to pour the perfect shot of espresso is just one of the steps the company is taking toward its "renewed focus on the customer experience."
The company sees the retraining as an investment rather than a loss of profits during the store closings.
The Starbucks located downtown will close at 7 p.m., and the store located on Archer Road will close at 8 p.m. Both stores will not reopen for the rest of the night.
However, both Starbucks stores on campus will stay open as they are licensed stores and are not company-operated.
