Elton John is scheduled to perform at the O'Connell Center on March 16 as part of his "Rocket Man: Number Ones" international tour.

Tickets are $48, $68 and $88 and will be available 10 a.m. Friday at the University Box Office, Reitz Union and all Ticketmaster venues.

Renee Musson, associate director of the O'Connell Center, said this year's show was scheduled to make up for a missed performance three years ago when John was sick.

John performed for a sold-out audience at the O'Connell Center in 1999, Musson said.

The British pop star, who was inducted into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame in 1994.

John holds the record for the largest-selling single of all time: his 1997 song, "Candle in the Wind," performed for Diana, princess of Wales, after her death.
