In response to Monday's letter from Danielle Emenhiser, segregation is a part of nature - cows in herds, birds in flocks, fish in schools and humans in cliques, clubs and organizations.
Whatever you want to call the phenomenon, it is nature's way of protecting us, though from what is anyone's guess.
The way we are grouped shouldn't have any significance.
If someone is more comfortable with people of his or her own culture or religion or major, why does it matter to you?
If I choose to stay inside a close-knit group of people, that doesn't mean I look down on others or seek to avoid them.
It just means I'm choosing to be around people I feel comfortable with and want to be around.
Why is it we feel the need to force everyone to be friendly and mix together?
Making people interact with people of different groups is just as bad as making them stay with their own race.
Let them choose who their friends are.
