The director of UF's Office of Sorority and Fraternity Affairs stepped down Feb. 13 in an unusually quick fashion.

Chris Bullins submitted a resignation letter Wednesday and sent an e-mail to his staff Thursday night.

"Effective immediately I will no longer serve in my role working with the Florida Greek Community," Bullins wrote in his e-mail. "Since 2004, the partnerships, respect, trust and commitment from all of you has amazed me."

Bullins could not be reached for comment. Lisa Kendall will take over as interim director. Eddie Daniels, executive director of the Reitz Union, which oversees the Office of Sorority and Fraternity Affairs, said Bullins voluntarily resigned from UF completely, but he was technically still an employee as of Tuesday.

"He is continuing to do some work," Daniels said. "He's just no longer in the director position. He has resigned, but he is not gone yet."

It's up to each employee to determine how quickly resignation will take effect, but Daniels said it's unusual for someone to submit his or her resignation and leave his job so quickly.

"I think it's probably fair to say that in general, it's unusual that it happens in that kind of time frame," he said.
