Ed Braddy, 35
City commissioner for six years; his term expires this year.
Professional: As the only Republican on the City Commission, Braddy said with a laugh that he wanted to Bbe more humble in accepting praise from [his] fellow commissioners.C
Personal: BI told some friends I would be giving blood regularly,C he said, adding he would research how often was suggested for his lifestyle. BI?m looking for a good repetition.C
Sadie Darnell, 56
Alachua County Sheriff since 2006; up for reelection later this year.
Personal: No resolutions. BI heard some celebrity say you just tend to break them,C Darnell said.
Professional: She plans to walk the halls of the sheriff?s office more often and speak with deputies daily in order to stay connected with her co-workers. Also, she plans to return phone calls from residents on the same day she receives them.
Pegeen Hanrahan, 41
Mayor of Gainesville for four years.
Professional: Hanrahan wants Gainesville residents to be better connected and wants to have more meetings in different parts of the city. She looks forward to working
with ongoing projects like the Kennedy Homes site, the Sixth Sttreet Trail and Depot Park.
Personal: BMy main ones, personally, are to continue to have lots of time with my family and learn from my kids,C she said. BI learn something from them every single day.C Hanrahan has a 2-year-old daughter, Evyleen, and a 10-month-old son, Quinn.
Paula Delaney, 54
County commissioner since 2004; her term ends this year.
Personal: BI guess we all, of course, want to do the usual things: eat better, sleep longer - all those kinds of things,C Delaney said.
Professional: She cited issues like youth services, homelessness and public education as important points to continue working on. BI think a lot of people perceive the county as a wonderful place to live, but we are in fact a poor community,C she said. BWe have many, many needs.C She also mentioned working closer with cities on annexation and finances.
