Tina Briggs, UF alumna

I am very concerned about the recent proposal for an increase in the cost of scooter decals.

How can UF justify charging more for a scooter decal then a regular car decal? If four scooters can fit in one car parking spot, then a scooter decal should cost one-fourth the amount of a car decal.

This leads me to believe there is an ulterior motive behind the increase in the cost of the decals. Seems like an excellent way to recoup a portion of the $16 million UF needs.

Or maybe UF is trying to discourage students from using scooters, but scooters are vital for student life.

Getting 60 to 80 miles per gallon seems very green to me.

They also help RTS by decreasing overcrowding on buses.

To be able to park four scooters in the place of one car, you would think they would be offering incentives for students who choose to purchase scooters.

Obviously, there is something else going on here that UF is not sharing with students and faculty.

UF needs to keep the increase even and fair across the board for all types of motor vehicles.
