I'm writing in regard to Carly Hallam's Friday column. Her ambition to become a mom and loving wife is picturesque and endearing. But I have to ask, is UF merely a holding station until she finds a suitable husband destined for suburbia?

I find that this can be common among college girls, and it's nothing short of disappointing. Do they not realize they took the spot of another girl who could have truly developed intellectually before progressing to a successful, rewarding career?

Hallam is merely wasting her time and her parents' money while waiting to find the perfectly sculpted guy to help fulfill her happily-ever-after. Being a mother is a noble calling, but you shouldn't take another's spot at a top university if you only plan to use your degree to qualify yourself to future in-laws.

She wrote that God created her for more than just advertising.

Well, she picked the wrong major if she thinks that lowly of the profession. People attend college to be inspired. There are no UF classes for being a housewife. I think she still has a lot of growing up to do.
