I was surprised at some of my friends' reactions to the article on UF President Bernie Machen's salary.
The people floored by the figure of the bonuses and salary need to take into account his worth to the university.
His earnings of more than ,700,000 are reasonable, considering the CEOs of an S&P 500 companies earn millions of dollars. UF is not a S&P 500 company, but it certainly is not an operation to sneeze at.
