As a person who values the right to live, I find the UF administration's position on the controversy surrounding how the "Obsession" screening was advertised very disturbing.
One goal of "Obsession" is to promote awareness of the distinction between radical and non-radical Muslims, as emphasized in the film. Muslims should thank the students who brought "Obsession" to campus for educating us about this distinction.
The key word here is radical. Muslims have no reason to be offended by the (completely accurate) facts given about radical Islam if they do not consider themselves radical.
Those who claim to be offended by a discussion on radical Islam are blurring the lines between radical and non-radical Muslims.
I encourage non-radical Muslims to defend their religion from the radicals who seek to hijack their religion. I would gladly attend any program they put on to make this distinction.
Venturing through Turlington Plaza on Monday, I was greeted with a preacher providing far-too-graphic details of conception. If this preacher could create such disturbing images of one of nature's most beautiful aspects, I'd love to hear him describe in vivid detail what happens to the human body when it is within 10 feet of an exploding bomb.
