In Monday's "Fashion" Alligator Rants, "frat guys who wear Guy Harvey shirts" were chastised for wearing the artists's apparel simply because "Gainesville doesn't have any good places to fish for swordfish." As a longtime supporter of Mr. Harvey's artwork and marine preservation efforts, I'm a little baffled.
So, according to this mindset, then, students can't wear sneakers if they won't be using a treadmill? To suggest that wearing a Guy Harvey shirt in a landlocked area is a fashion faux pas is ridiculous. Guy Harvey shirts show captivating marine creatures.
Someone's proximity to the ocean should not affect the wear-ability of Mr. Harvey's apparel. I say, don't "save your Guy Harvey shirt" for "dad's boat." Instead, wear it with pride, "frat guys" and all students alike.
