Monday's editorial headline implied students should not vote because Florida's Democratic primary will not matter. Not only is this irresponsible, but it is wrong.
The Florida Democratic primary will still make a difference in the party's nominee. Florida is widely recognized as the state that is demographically most representative of the country, and it is a large swing state.
People will notice who wins the early primary vote. Momentum and money will go to the candidate who wins Florida's primary. While the state primary may not directly award delegates to the Democratic National Convention, it is wrong to say that the Democratic primary will not make a difference.
