Christian organizations from UF gathered Friday night for praise and worship on the steps of the Reitz Union Amphitheater.

The event, UNITE NOW Worship Night, was hosted by all 10 campus Christian ministries at UF.

Chipper Flaniken, president of the UF chapter of Campus Crusade for Christ, helped plan the event.

"We wanted to demonstrate that while there are many Christian ministries on campus, we all worship the same God," Flaniken said.

George Dumaine, a UF alumnus who led praise and worship, reiterated that sentiment.

"In the past, the Christian groups on this campus lacked the unity we had tonight," he said. "I don't think there was any active division but rather a void of unity."

About 750 students attended the event, which featured scripture reading and prayer.

At the end of the night, Dumaine summed up the event with enthusiasm.

"Something we can't see, measure or weigh happened tonight," he said. "It was powerful. It was real."
