The policy panel formed to discuss appropriate police practices after the Andrew Meyer Tasering incident is an absolute travesty.

The Faculty Senate initially forced it to convene at times incompatible with student schedules; Student Body President Ryan Moseley promised he would keep Student Government bigwigs out of his appointments but lied; and to top it all off, UF President Bernie Machen has veto power over any of the panel's findings and resolutions he doesn't favor.

The only member of this committee who has shown any kind of true interest in resolving the discrepancies between the calls of excessive force and Accent mismanagement has been Brian Aungst. He has also made several attempts to reach out to independent student leaders.

Still, the fact that this committee and its calendar of meetings were pushed past the elections, combined with the lies of Moseley, the veto power of Machen and the fact that most independents will not waste their time speaking to Tigert puppets….

This committee is an absolute travesty. I'm sure you will see more of the Joe Courters rush to get into the headlines with photos and passionate speeches, including hand waves, fist pumps and useless political rhetoric. Travesty. Nothing but a show. The puppets play tic-tac-toe on their legal pads, and the Alligator photographs has-beens playing James Dean.
