I just want to say that while, like anyone else, I was disappointed by the loss to Louisiana State University, I want to commend each and every one of the players for an impressive show - I think many people forget that these kids are mostly 18, 19 and 20 years old, and many of them made only their sixth collegiate start (all too many their sixth collegiate game) and, despite that, for 50 minutes, they dominated the No. 1 team in the nation in a very hostile venue.
The fact that, in the end, they fell just a bit short is not something to find fault with but to respect, appreciate and honor - it shows the level of talent, ability and heart they must have to play that well against an experienced No.1-ranked team in an away game.
I look at this team and think how good the players will be by the end of the season and just how frighteningly good they will be by next season, with a full year's experience under their belts.
I hope everyone out there remembers this, especially those who see them on campus day to day, and thanks them for doing an amazing job against some pretty heavy odds.
