One of the things that has been driving me nuts this semester is the seemingly complete lack of manners presented by a few students in our lecture halls. What should you do when your instructor starts to speak? Shut up and listen, right? I didn't show up to listen to you chatting with your girlfriends about how lame today's video was or your thoughts about yesterday's test in a completely different course.
You may be chatting in a low, monotonous tone of voice, but I can still hear you perfectly well because I am only five feet away from you. You are not only disturbing me but everybody within that radius.
Nobody wants to tell you to shut up because that would cause further disruption, and we all think you are an insensitive jerk. Do everybody a favor: Act like you are at UF, not at the movies, and pay attention to the class you spent several hundred dollars to attend. If you aren't capable of handling that, stay home.
