UF senior wide receiver Andre Caldwell is officially out for Saturday's game against rival Tennessee with a sprained right MCL.

"That's a blow," UF coach Urban Meyer said Monday. "That's a frontal shot right there. He's as invested a player as I've ever been around. He took it hard."

Caldwell, a team captain, has four receptions for 111 yards so far this season and had an 18-yard touchdown run Saturday against Troy. Meyer said he wasn't sure of Caldwell's status past this week, but he would provide a more concrete update next week.

"(Caldwell) heals real fast," Meyer said. "He's a real positive person. His job is to make sure the other guys (are ready)."

Meyer said it was a "free for all" on who would replace Caldwell, but sophomore Riley Cooper is the first option. Cooper didn't have a catch against the Trojans, but he did have a career high of 122 yards and two touchdowns against Western Kentucky in UF's season opener.

In other injury news, Meyer said safety Bryan Thomas is also out, but return specialist Brandon James - who averaged 42.3 yards on three kick returns against the Troy - will play Saturday after spraining his ankle against Trojans.
