Antonio Callaway will participate in the start of Fall practice on Thursday, but the status of his suspension is still unclear.
Florida coach Jim McElwain addressed the hazy circumstances surrounding Callaway’s situation at UF’s Media Day on Wednesday. Callaway, who was suspended before the start of Spring practice for unknown reasons, has since been cleared to practice and will attend classes.
McElwain declined to give specifics on what Callway was suspended for and when the issue will be resolved, including whether or not Callaway will be eligible to play in Florida’s season opener on Sept. 3.
“Nothing from a status standpoint has changed and there isn't a time frame on that,” he said.
Callaway had a breakout freshman season for the Gators last year, leading the team in receiving yards (678) and average yards per catch (19.37).
He was named a Freshman First Team All-America by Pro Football Focus as well as an All-America First Team member as a punt returner by CBS Sports.
