An exhibit at the Florida Museum of Natural History will continue the 150th anniversary
celebration of the Morrill Act signing.
The “Water: Discovering and Sharing Solutions” exhibit is due to open at 10 a.m. Saturday.
The free exhibit is a collaboration between UF’s Institute of Food and Agricultural Sciences, UF and the museum. It will run until Jan. 2.
“There will be a number of different sections showing research on water conservation, water usage, plants and animals, and the impact they have on our bodies of water,” said IFAS Communications Assistant Vice President Ruth Borger.
The exhibit had previously been on display at the National Mall in Washington, D.C., for
the annual summer Smithsonian Folklife Festival.
Borger said the exhibit explores topics like water, recreation, clam harvesting, invasive species, the citrus industry and landscaping.
Public Programs Coordinator Catherine Carey said an Abraham Lincoln character will visit Saturday.
“The water exhibit ties in with the 150th anniversary signing of Morrill Act which Lincoln signed to bring agricultural colleges into being,” she said.
